October Interlude: Part 1

First Published October 16, 2015

We just completed a 15-day road trip from Manitoba through Ontario and Quebec to New Brunswick. The roadside scenery of azure lakes and placid rivers, rock walls, and trees aflame with autumn colours under a blue sky followed us all the way.

And what a pleasure it was to reconnect with dear friends and former neighbours, to share food and thoughts and laughter, to walk along the shore at St Martins on Fundy Bay, to explore the picturesque streets of historic Old Quebec . I signed copies of my novel, The Lost Encore, and was touched by the shared emotions of those who had read it earlier, each as unique as the person.

Each day was a pleasant experience and, as a passenger on the drive, I had time to think and daydream. And I felt a poem was beginning to develop. We’ll see….
